Designing and building a vehicle marketplace with faster ad posting - Sello

This vehicle marketplace UI/UX design project was for Sello.lk, a platform for buying and selling vehicles in Sri Lanka, with browsing and search across listings. I owned the work end-to-end, from branding and product design to front-end build, plus marketing and social content for launch.

My Role

• Branding and visual identity (logo, typography, colours, UI style)
• UI/UX design for desktop and mobile
• Information architecture, user flows, and wireframes
• Front-end development for the full platform (all key pages)
• Social media content and marketing materials

How I Did It

• Reviewed similar marketplaces to understand common flows and user expectations
• Created the brand system first, then applied it across product UI and marketing
• Mapped the main journeys: post an ad, browse listings, view details, contact seller
• Built wireframes to lock structure before high-fidelity UI
• Designed and then implemented the full responsive front end
• Produced social and marketing assets that matched the website visuals

Result

• Shipped a complete, responsive marketplace experience across desktop and mobile
• Made ad posting, browsing, and contacting sellers clear and easy to follow
• Delivered a consistent brand across the product and marketing, so the team could promote the platform without design drift
